Express network coverage not available?

my new lg voyager that i just activated today, will not receive standard or any sort of multimedia text messages! my coverage goes from full signal to no signal in a matter of seconds, and a message pops up that reads "Express network Coverage not available". How can I fix this? My old phone did not do this, and I am in the same area. Please help! I have verizon wireless!
